MOKU’ is a musical duo comprising pianist Mamoru Motooka and Japanese taiko drums Akira Sakaue.
With the piano weaving delicate melodies and the Japanese taiko drums resonating like a heartbeat,
their unique sound—where stillness and movement, yin and yang intertwine—offers a contemporary expression of Japanese aesthetics.
Their compositions, which combine improvisation with structural beauty, span a wide range from lyrical ballads to powerful, up-tempo pieces.
Valuing the ‘afterglow’ and ‘pauses’ that exist between sound and words, they paint a worldview that resonates quietly within the listener.
元岡 衛
17歳よりピアニスト＆キーボーディストとしてプロのキャリアをスタートさせる。
ジャンルに囚われないオールラウンダーであり、数多くのメジャーアーティストの伴奏＆セッション＆スタジオワークで活躍。
近年はソロ活動の他に、自らのバンド＆ユニットでのヨーロッパを主とした海外公演が中心で、現在まで17ヵ国38公演を行い、全ての楽曲の作曲も手掛ける。ソロの作品としては、6枚のアルバムと5作のMVをリリースし、そのストリーミング配信において計59回の日本1位を獲得し、海外でも多数チャートインしている。
Mamoru Motooka
He started his professional career as a pianist & keyboardist at the age of 17. A genre-bending all-rounder, he has worked as a pianist for a singing program on a Japanese national TV station, and has also accompanied, played in sessions and done studio work for many major artists. In recent years, in addition to his solo activities, he has mainly performed overseas, mainly in Europe, with his own band and unit, performing 38 concerts in 17 countries to date. As a solo artist, he has released 6 albums and 5 music videos, 4 of which were recorded at the Musikverein in Austria, etc.
坂上 享
10歳のとき和太鼓と出会い、16歳でプロの和太鼓グループ「打打打団 天鼓」に入団。その中心メンバーとして世界30カ国1500公演を経験する。2021年に独立後は、「和楽器デュオ 音ノ羽」を結成し国内外で様々なアーティストとのプロジェクトを積極的に展開するなど、和楽器の魅力とその可能性を発信し続けている。泉佐野市PR大使。
Akira Sakaue
At the age of 16, he joined professional Japanese drum group ‘Dadadadan Tenko’. Experienced more than 1500 performances in 30 countries around the world, including Athens Festival (Greece) and Oerol Festival (Netherlands), as well as numerous domestic performances.
Currently, as a soloist, he continues to explore the possibilities of Japanese drums in contemporary music, incorporating percussive playing techniques while using traditional Japanese drums as a base.
